JOURNALISTIC ACCOUNTABILITY

Corrections & Fact-Checking

Our transparent procedures for investigating claims, rectifying inaccuracies, and issuing public corrections.

Peak Journalism adheres to rigorous fact-checking standards. If an error occurs, we issue prompt and transparent corrections.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

At Peak Journalism, editorial accuracy is paramount. Despite rigorous multi-tier verification before publication, mistakes can occasionally happen. When errors occur, our fundamental obligation is to correct the record as quickly, transparently, and thoroughly as possible.

How Corrections Are Handled

  1. Substantive Corrections: If a factual error alters the core meaning or understanding of an article (such as names, figures, dates, or legal outcomes), we update the text and append an editorial correction box at the top or bottom of the article specifying:
    • The exact date and time the correction was published.
    • What the original text incorrectly stated.
    • The verified, corrected fact.
  2. Typographical & Minor Fixes: Obvious spelling mistakes or grammatical typos that do not change factual meaning are rectified directly without an editorial correction note.
  3. Clarifications: When an article is factually accurate but the phrasing could be interpreted misleadingly, we issue an editorial clarification note.
  4. Retractions: In the rare event that an article fails fundamentally to meet verification standards, our editorial board publishes a formal retraction with a full explanation to readers.

Fact-Checking Methodology

Our fact-checking team assesses statements using a 4-step framework:

1. Source Inspection

Checking original government gazettes, court filings, financial releases, or direct audio/video recordings.

2. Expert Consultation

Cross-referencing technical, legal, or medical statements with recognized domain authorities.

3. Context Validation

Ensuring quotes and data are not taken out of chronological or logical context.

4. Dual Editorial Review

No major investigative story goes live without independent review from two senior editors.
